Studio Policy

Registration

A fee of $50 for all new students (not to exceeed $100 per family) is required along with the registration form to reserve class space. In order for students currently enrolled to receive the early registration fee of $30 (not to exceed $100 per family), the student must register on or BEFORE June 1, 2023. No fees, including Registration Fee, are refundable for any reason.

 

Tuition and Billing Procedures

Monthly tuition is paid through automatic bank draft. Tuition is divided into 10 payments, with the 1st payment drafted on September 1st, 2023 and the last payment drafted on June 1st, 2024. Bank drafts will be from a single account, no split payments from multiple accounts.

 

A $25.00 fee will be charged for each "NSF" draft. If the studio is presented more than two NSF drafts, students will not be permitted to attend classes until the account is current.

 

Delinquent accounts will be turned over to an outside collection agency if the account holder fails to make satisfactory payment arrangements. An account is considered delinquent once it is two months past due. No student will be allowed to continue classes if the account is two months past due. No student will be allowed to continue classes with a past due account.

 

NO FEES ARE REFUNDABLE. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. (This includes anything payable to Jean Leigh Academy of Dance, such as and not limited to registration fees, tuition, costumes, revue fees, programs, videos, tickets, t-shirts, convention and competition fees, choreography fees, master classes, all deposits, etc.) Refunds are not given for closure due to natural disasters, pandemics, or federal, state or local government mandates.

Discounted Military/Service Personnel Rates

10% discount with a valid active duty military, police, firefighter, or first responder ID for students on Payment Option plan "A," Plan "B," or Plan "B Plus." Discount applies to tuition fee only.

Discounted Family Rates

2 children less $10.00, 3 children less $15.00, 4 children less $20.00 off total monthly tuition.

Holidays and Inclement Weather

The studio will be closed ONLY during the following holidays:

 

Thanksgiving - November 20 - 24, 2023

Christmas - December 22, 2023 - January 4, 2024

Mardi Gras - February 12 - 16, 2024

Easter - March 29 - April 5, 2024

 

THE STUDIO WILL BE OPEN ON ALL OTHER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. The studio will be closed if the public schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Arrival and Departure

Jean Leigh Academy of Dance will not escort any dancers to and from the parking lot. Students should be accompanied by a parent or guardian when arriving and departing the studio. Parents, for your child's safety, please do not ask your child to meet you outside.

Dress Code

For all dance classes, hair must be tightly secured and off the neck. All students are required to wear appropriate attire in their classes. Our DRESS CODE can be found on our website at jeanleighdance.com under the Dress Code tab for each age division. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE CLASS WITHOUT BEING APPROPRIATELY DRESSED.

NOTE: COVER-UPS SHOULD BE WORN TO AND FROM THE STUDIO. Please refrain from wearing jewelry.

Personal Property

Please label all dancewear and shoes with student's name. We are not responsible for any loss of personal property or valuables.

Class Observation

Observers are not permitted in the classroom without the permission of the instructor. Please understand that this is in the students' best interest not to be distracted. We are fortunate, however, to have observation windows for all studios and we encourage our parents to observe as often as possible.

Observation Etiquette

Our goal is to provide a safe and positive environment for our students and their families. Any unbecoming behavior or rude comments made in the waiting area or on the premises is strictly prohibited. ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS POLICY WILL BE CAUSE TO REMOVE YOUR CHILD FROM OUR ROLL.

Videotaping/Social Media

Videotaping is prohibited during class time unless permitted by the instructor in order to help your child progress. Any instructor-approved videotaping is not allowed to be posted on any social media site such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. This is to ensure the safety and privacy of all our students.

Absences

If your child is absent from any classes held at the studio, full tuition is still required, however, make-up classes are encouraged and available through February 1st, 2024. Please note that “Perfect Attendance” certificates are awarded at the end of the dance year.

Annual Dance Revue

YOUR CHILD'S PARTICIPATION IN OUR ANNUAL DANCE REVUE IS OPTIONAL. Our 2024 Dance Revue will be held at the Raising Cane's River Center. Dress Rehearsal and Revue will be June 21-22, 2024. If you want your child to participate, you are required to purchase his/her costumes.

Costumes

Costume Fee: Due November 1st, 2023. (Plan "A" and Plan "C" Students ONLY)

 

On November 1st, 2023, the full costume payment will be drafted for all students on Plan "A" and Plan "C". Costumes are ordered over the Thanksgiving holidays and there are no refunds. Costume requirements: Preschool - 2 dancer costumes and 1 daddy costume; Primary I & II - 2 costumes; Beginner and Intermediate Elementary - 2 costumes; Advanced Elementary - 3 costumes; Secondary/Teen - 2 costumes; Specialty - 1 costume per class taken. Shoes, tights and undergarments are not included in the cost of costumes and must be purchased by each dancer. No costumes required for non-performing classes.

Pictures

Individual pictures in costumes may be taken during Picture Week in April at Jean Leigh Academy of Dance by Kleinpeter Photography. Costume pictures are optional.

Revue Fee/Tickets

Revue Fee: Due March 1st, 2024. (Plan "A" and Plan "C" Students ONLY)

 

As opposed to charging admission to our annual dance revue, we require a fee of $205 for the first child and $155 for second child. (No additional fee for third or fourth child.) This fee covers the expenses of producing the show, including the costs of such things as the rental of the facility, special effects, lighting instruments and technicians, security, etc., and is due in full by March 1st, 2024. Upon payment of the revue fee, each family receives 4 tickets to the show, 1 souvenir program and 1 video on a high quality flash drive. Second child revue fee includes 1 additional souvenir program and 2 additional tickets to the show. Any remaining tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis. All students will be properly notified of the date and time these extra tickets will become available. No fees, including Revue Fee, are refundable for any reason.

 

Accounts must be current before any student will be allowed to do the following:

 

Receive costumes, take Revue pictures, purchase Souvenir Program ads, receive a prize offered through any Jean Leigh contest, draw for Revue tickets, purchase Revue tickets, receive Revue wristbands, participate in Revue.

Student Class/Schedule Change

All requests for changes to a student's classes or schedule must be submitted in writting or emailed to the studio.

Student Withdrawal

We must be notified in writing or emailed when a student drops a class. You will be charged each month until written notification or email is received. No exceptions to this policy will be considered.

 

The final date to withdraw is Saturday, December 31st, 2023. After this date, you will be responsible for paying tuition through the dance revue, and all fees associated with the dance revue on June 22nd, 2024. All students who withdraw forfeit their revue tickets.
